A collaboration between Envisioning Access and The Babel Group—Expanding Communication Access Through Innovation

Envisioning Access is proud to partner with The Babel Group, a reseller of Voiceitt—an inclusive, AI-powered speech recognition web application designed for people with non-standard speech. Voiceitt opens access to voice technology for individuals whose speech is often misunderstood, including people with ALS, spinal cord injuries, Multiple Sclerosis, cerebral palsy, the effects of stroke, aging adults, and accented speakers.

Why Voiceitt Matters

Many individuals served through this initiative experience significant speech impairments that limit their ability to communicate effectively. These communication barriers can restrict access to employment, education, independence, and meaningful social connection.

Voiceitt functions as a stand-alone web application that supports communication with both people and technology—helping users interact more clearly, quickly, and confidently.

Making Voiceitt Accessible to All

Envisioning Access and The Babel Group are working together to raise funds to provide Voiceitt licenses at no cost to individuals who cannot afford this essential communication tool. Because each client will be low-income, Envisioning Access will purchase and distribute one-year Voiceitt licenses and ensure that every participant receives the support they need to succeed.

In collaboration with Voiceitt, our staff will offer personalized training and ongoing support, ensuring each participant can learn and use the technology effectively and independently.

How Voiceitt Works

Once a client receives the Voiceitt app, the first step is to train the system to understand the client’s unique speech patterns. This process begins by recording phrase cards—Voiceitt requires 50 recordings before it is ready for everyday use.

As clients continue using the app, Voiceitt learns additional words, phrases, and personalized vocabulary such as proper nouns or school/work terminology. Users can also create shortcuts: a single spoken cue that triggers a longer spoken message from the app.

A Voiceitt speech-language pathologist will guide each participant through the training process, testing features and ensuring they understand how to use the application comfortably and confidently.

Transforming Communication, Independence, and Opportunity

With the support of Voiceitt, clients can strengthen their communication skills across all areas of life—including community engagement, employment, and education. Envisioning Access and The Babel Group share a deep commitment to building a more inclusive world, where communication barriers never limit someone’s ability to learn, work, or participate fully in their community.

By pairing innovative technology with person-centered training, this initiative has the potential to lift individuals out of poverty, expand access to higher education, reduce isolation, and meaningfully improve overall quality of life. One app truly can transform a life.

Measuring Impact Across Real-Life Settings

Following training, Envisioning Access and The Babel Group will observe and support clients as they integrate Voiceitt into daily communication—at work, in the classroom, at home, and in their communities.

We will track each participant’s progress from initial onboarding through full adoption to better understand Voiceitt’s impact on communication effectiveness, independence, and daily well-being.

The insights we gain will help guide future work and further demonstrate how assistive technology can reshape the everyday experiences of individuals with speech difficulties.

Cognimate

Envisioning Access is working with the company Cognimate to test their innovative smart glove. We have tested the glove on one individual, and we are looking for others to test this product that:

Recovers an individual’s fine motor skills due to the effects of

  • Stroke
  • Psychomotor development problems
  • Cognitive impairment
  • Dyspraxia
  • Prolonged immobilization of the upper limb
  • Impaired writing (poor handwriting)
  • Post-traumatic neuropathies of the ulnar and radial nerves
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Muscular dystrophy
  • Brain/spinal cord injuries
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Hand rehabilitation post injuries and operations

The goal of this Smart glove to is to boost motor skills recovery and improve fine motor skills, cognitive function and emotional state. The rehabilitation is based on the principles of neuroplasticity of the brain, gamification, biofeedback, and patented methodology. To use the glove the client plays exercising and entertaining computer games where controls are based on wrist and palm movements. Movements are detected by a special haptic glove, which automatically adjusts game difficulty to each client’s individual abilities and precisely monitors the rehabilitation process.

The process is easy and can be used remotely at home.

In Our Future

Envisioning Access is continually exploring innovative assistive technologies in collaboration with tech start-ups and leading universities. We are fortunate to be located in a global hub of innovation, surrounded by some of the most forward-thinking companies and academic institutions in the world.

As we look ahead to 2026 and 2027, we are envisioning new projects that harness, for instance, embodied AI to help individuals maintain dignity during their most personal and private moments. In every initiative we pursue, we place the person before the technology. Our guiding questions remain constant: Is this technology practical? Does it work for both the individual with a disability and their primary caregiver? Will the technology answer our Envisioning Access questions: will it assist in economic freedom—finding and keeping employment; attaining higher education; engaging in one’s community.

We are also committed to strengthening our long-standing partnership with Northeastern University. Their innovative research and unwavering support help Envisioning Access plan boldly and thoughtfully for the future.

Stay tuned for exciting new developments as we continue these collaborative efforts and explore technologies that will truly improve lives. Join our mailing list for the most up-to-date news!
